Jerzy Brzęczek: We did not create as many chances as we had planned to
"We knew that it would be a very tough match but we wanted to challenge the Netherlands. However, we lacked good offensive play and playmaking. As a result, we did not create as many goal-scoring chances as we had planned to and that is why we lost," said Jerzy Brzęczek, the head coach of the Poland national football team, at a press conference following the Nations League match against the Netherlands (0-1).
The Netherlands beat Poland in the first UEFA Nations League match
In the first match of the new UEFA Nations League season, the Polish national team lost 0-1 to the Netherlands at the Johan Cruijff ArenA. The only goal was scored by Steven Bergwijn in the 61st minute.
Polish national team placed 19th in the FIFA ranking
The Polish national team has been moved up by two spots in the latest FIFA ranking and currently stays in 19th place. The leaders in the ranking of the International Federation of Association Football remained the same. Belgium is the leader, France occupies second place and Brazil is third. The next FIFA ranking will be published on 19 December.

Although the highlight of the match against Slovenia was supposed to be bidding farewell to Lukasz Piszczek, the fans at the PGE Narodowy Stadium simply enjoyed a very good match. A match against an opponent displaying well-executed, technical plays, featuring a glimpse of Robert Lewandowski's genius, Sebastian Szymański's debut goal and a victory – that's how the white-and-reds concluded the UEFA EURO 2020 qualifiers and the year 2019.
