Decisions taken concerning FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ qualifiers
Today, the Bureau of the FIFA Organising Committee took key decisions in relation to the European play-off matches for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, following consultation with UEFA and the participating FIFA member associations.

Poland does not intend to play the play-off match against Russia
„No more words, time to act! Due to the escalation of the aggression of the Russian Federation towards Ukraine the Polish national team does not intend to play the play-off match against Russia. We are in talks with Sweden and Czech Republic federations to bring forward a joint statement to FIFA” – tweeted Polish Football Association President Cezary Kulesza on Saturday.

New coaching staff of the Polish national team
The Management Board of the Polish Football Association approved the new coaching staff for the Polish national team proposed by head coach Czesław Michniewicz. "Already at the first press conference, I announced that I would be relying mostly on colleagues from the previous U-21 national team, whom I know very well. The medical and administrative staff of the national team will remain unchanged. They are experienced and competent people with whom I have also already worked in the federation," said the head coach of the Polish national team.

Change of the venue for the Russia - Poland play-off
Due to the unstable epidemic situation, the match of the first round of the 2022 World Cup qualifying play-offs, in which Poland will play against Russia on 24 March at 18:00 (Polish time), will take place in Moscow at the Dinamo Lev Yashin Stadium. The change of venue for the match was requested by the Russian federation. The match was originally scheduled to be played at the Luzhniki Stadium.

Czesław Michniewicz as the head coach of the Polish national team
On 31 January 2022, Czesław Michniewicz became the new head coach of the Polish national team. "After much discussion, analysis and further consideration, I made a choice that I am satisfied with and consider to be the best possible choice under the current circumstances. Coach Michniewicz convinced me with his specific plan. Our main goal is the play-off matches and, as we both believe, promotion to the World Cup in Qatar," said Cezary Kulesza, President of the Polish Football Association. The 52-year-old coach signed a contract until the end of the year, with an option to extend it.
