Jerzy Brzęczek: We managed to turn the match upside down and this is never easy

"The most important thing is that we won a difficult away match. We are very pleased with that. I think that our National League group is very balanced and every result in possible in every match," said Jerzy Brzęczek, the head coach of the Poland national football team, at a press conference following a 2-1 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"We did not kick off the match well. We played too slowly, did not make through passes as planned, but played passes back instead. We were brought back down to earth only after the penalty kick and the conceded goal. I am not going to say whether the penalty kick was rightly given because I have not seen it yet on video but Jan Bednarek said that there was no foul. After conceding the goal, we started to play faster. Kamil Glik's goal after a corner kick helped us not only to level the match but also to kick off the second half with more peace of mind," said Jerzy Brzęczek.

"It was no surprise to us that Dušan Bajević had made some changes to the starting 11 compared to their match against Italy in Florence. We expected that. We also made five changes. We are currently at a stage where such changes are needed. The match showed that some players still need to get prepared for the new season. We were better prepared in terms of fitness and that was also one of the factors why we emerged victorious," said the head coach.

"The best player of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team and its biggest star is Edin Džeko. Although he was not in the starting 11, we knew that when he was subbed in, we would have to watch out for him. He is a world-class striker and proved this by scoring a goal in the previous match against Italy. As a matter of fact, we knew that the entire Bosnia and Herzegovina team is dangerous and well-organised. We always have respect for every opponent. Still, the most important thing for us is to focus on our tasks and plans in the first place," added Brzęczek.

"Is Kamil Jóźwiak the biggest winner of this training camp? Well, let's not jump to conclusions and say he is an international-level player already. It is certain that he played well in terms of commitment, creating goal-scoring chances, or defence. This is a big plus. However, Kamil still needs to keep working on his shots and final passes. He had chances that he could make a better use of in both matches. Once he improves his skills in this respect, he will be an international-level player indeed," concluded the head coach of the Polish national team.
