Sebastian Szymański: It was a rehearsed set piece
“We all know that deliveries like that are never easy for a goalkeeper, especially with so many players crowding the area. It was a set piece we’d practised, something we wanted to try out that way – and I’m glad it worked perfectly. My rating for the match? Ten out of ten! We’ve got the win, three points, and that’s what matters most,” said Sebastian Szymański, the standout performer in Poland’s 2–0 victory over Lithuania.
Jan Urban: It was a convincing victory
“Today Lithuania didn’t make things too difficult for us, but that was mainly because we played well and didn’t allow ourselves to get drawn into their long-ball style. The next match, against the Netherlands, will give us more answers. Against a team like that, you have to perform at your very best if you want to get any points. I’m looking forward to that game,” said Polish national team head coach Jan Urban after the 2–0 victory over Lithuania.
