Head coach Jan Urban’s contract to be extended
"Football can be brutal. This time, we have found that out the hard way – we will not be competing at the World Cup. We all feel a great sense of disappointment. Right after the match, in the dressing room, I thanked the team for their effort and commitment. I also informed them that Jan Urban’s contract will be extended," said Cezary Kulesza, President of the Polish Football Association.
After the Sweden v Poland match, the Polish FA President went down to the dressing room, where he addressed the players directly, praising their attitude and character. "You have played a really good match, and I am just as disappointed as you are, but we cannot give up. There are more challenges ahead of us – we are about to begin the European Championship qualifiers soon. I also wanted you to hear this first: I have spoken to the coach and decided to extend his contract. He will remain the national team's head coach," he told the players.
