"I have reason to be very proud", says Head Coach Jerzy Brzęczek after match against North Macedonia

Six matches, six wins, leading the table — the Polish U-21 national team's record after the autumn part of the qualifiers is impressive indeed. The head coach agrees. "I would give the team a six myself. The difficulty level in these qualifiers increased with each match. The highlight was the match against Italy. For me, it is a source of great pride and satisfaction to be able to work with such a group of people — both the players and the entire coaching staff, everyone who makes up this team. We created a great atmosphere and did a lot of work. I just try not to get in the way", said Jerzy Brzęczek.

"It was a very important victory in the context of recent events. The victory over Italy, the euphoria, the joy — the second match after something like that is always difficult, especially with a weaker opponent and in this part of Europe, and the weather was not favourable either. If we had started an hour later, I am not sure if the match would have taken place at all. This is why I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the entire team. We were consistent, we prepared well for Macedonia, who did not seriously threaten our goal, and we ourselves had opportunities to score more goals. As a footballer, I have experienced various difficult moments in the Balkans, and at that time we did not manage to succeed. Now, we are looking forward to the matches in March with great anticipation", said the U-21 team head coach.

"I am glad that we were able to handle this mentally. We carried a heavy burden. We knew that we could not afford to play at 50 or 60 per cent — we had to be mentally at our best, and I would like to congratulate the lads on that", said Brzęczek.

"The next four months until the next call-ups are the worst time for footballers. It is the so-called 'dead season'. We have many interesting lads in the selection. Our idea was to prepare the players for the national team as well. There is growing rivalry within the team. Every coach would like to have such a positive headache. With December and the festive season just around the corner, these November matches are vital. It is nice to go into the break knowing what we have achieved in the autumn. We will be looking forward to March with even greater joy", said the coach of the Polish U-21 national team.
