Jerzy Brzęczek Appointed Poland U-21 National Team Head Coach

The Polish Football Association announces that Jerzy Brzęczek has been appointed as the new head coach of the Poland U-21 national team, succeeding Adam Majewski.
“It has been an unforgettable time and a great source of pride. Working with the national team is a tremendous honor for any coach. Over nearly two years we experienced many wonderful moments together, such as qualifying for the final tournament of the European Championship. I am very grateful for this opportunity. Together we agreed that my mission has come to an end and that it is time for me to return to club football. I wish this team the very best,” said coach Adam Majewski.
“On behalf of the Polish Football Association, I would like to sincerely thank coach Adam Majewski for nearly two years of cooperation. We have jointly decided that it will not be continued. Coach Majewski now faces new challenges, in which we as an association will be cheering him on. We wish him all the best in his future coaching career and thank him for our time together. Good luck, coach!” said PZPN Sporting Director Marcin Dorna.
Adam Majewski had led the Poland U-21 team since 22 September 2023, taking over from Michał Probierz. With him as head coach, the team qualified for the final tournament of the UEFA European Under-21 Championship, held in June 2025 in Slovakia.
From 8 August 2025, Jerzy Brzęczek will officially take charge of the U-21 national team. The former Poland senior national team coach led the squad between 2018 and 2021, qualifying with them for UEFA EURO 2020. In his club career, he has managed Raków Częstochowa, Lechia Gdańsk, GKS Katowice, Wisła Płock, and Wisła Kraków. As a player, he played 42 matches and scored 4 goals for Poland. In 1992, he won the Olympic silver medal in Barcelona, serving as team captain.
“I am very happy to have the chance to lead the youth national team. I know from experience how important this team is. The players who compete here form the direct pathway to the senior national team. I firmly believe that many of them will make the step from the youth side to the senior squad. Thank you for the trust, and see you at the stadiums,” said Jerzy Brzęczek.
