Adam Majewski appointed as head coach of Poland's national under-21 team
Adam Majewski has become the head coach of the Polish national under-21 team. The 50-year-old coach will manage the Polish team in the qualification for the European Youth Championships. After two rounds, the Poles are placed first in their group, having won 3:0 against Kosovo in Płock and 1:0 against Estonia in Tallinn. Majewski replaced Michal Probierz, who became the head coach of Poland's senior national team.
Adam Majewski was born on 24 December 1973. As a player, he started his carrer in his home town Płock, wearing the kit of Petrochemia (today Wisła Płock). In 1995, he moved to Lech Poznań, where he played until 1999 (with a six-month break for loan to Dyskobolia Grodzisk Wielkopolski). He achieved his greatest success in club football with Legia Warszawa, with whom he won the Polish Championship and the Polish League Cup in 2002.
He also played for the Greek Panionios GSS and, after returning to Poland, again for Wisła Płock, Lech Poznań and Zawisza Bydgoszcz. He ended his career in Płock in 2010 due to a cruciate ligament rupture.
Adam Majewski also made one appearance for the Polish national team. On 14 February 2003, he played in a friendly against Macedonia. The white and reds won 3-0.
After his football career ended, he first became an assistant coach at Wisła Płock and then managed the second team in 2018-2020. In the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 seasons, he was the head coach of Stomil Olsztyn. In July 2021, he made his debut as a head coach of Stal Mielec at the highest competition level in Poland – the PKO BP Ekstraklasa. He managed the team from Mielec in 62 matches (59 matches in league and 3 in the Polish Cup). He left Stal in March 2023.
He is a graduate of the PZPN Coaching School with the highest possible coaching qualifications – he obtained a UEFA PRO licence.
On 22 September 2023, Adam Majewski became the head coach of the Polish national under-21 team.
