"This is an extremely important stage in the qualifiers for us. In recent weeks the entire coaching staff have been working with full commitment to prepare as best as possible for these matches. Today we announced the call-ups and I would like to congratulate all our players on becoming part of the team. I want us to begin the training camp with a clean slate. The captain of the national team will be Robert Lewandowski, who will attend Monday's press conference with me. I have entrusted the role of vice-captain to Piotr Zieliński, and the third captain will be Jan Bednarek. he players have already been informed – I spoke with them personally, as I wanted them to be the first to know of my decision. This decision is final, and I consider the issue of who should be captain to be over; we will not be commenting on it further. The team must now focus solely on the game and on these two key matches. I am also pleased to announce that Juan Iribarren, a professional with vast experience as fitness coach, has joined our staff. With this addition, our staff is now complete,” said head coach Jan Urban.

The training camp will get underway on 1 September in Katowice. On 3 September, the Polish national team will fly to Rotterdam, where they will face the Netherlands the following evening at 8:45 p.m. local time. The team will then return to Poland on 5 September to continue preparations. On 7 September, also at 8:45 p.m., Poland will play against Finland at the Superauto.pl Silesian Stadium.
