Cezary Kulesza: Concentration, determination and playing to the final whistle will be key
“We respect every rival, but our goal is to win and qualify for the World Cup. Whether we face the Netherlands or Spain, they will be the group's favourites, but we believe in our capabilities. Concentration, determination and playing to the final whistle will be key,” said Cezary Kulesza, President of the Polish Football Association, after the draw of groups for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
“Apart from a Pot 1 rival, we ended up with theoretically weaker opponents we have a good record with, statistically speaking. However, the recent match against Moldova in Chisinau reminded us that lacking full concentration can cost us points. So, the most important thing is to approach every game with the maximum commitment and respect for the opponent,” noted Cezary Kulesza.
“We still have to wait for the outcome of the game between Spain and the Netherlands, and then we will know all our rivals. But whoever we play, they will be the favourites. They are top teams. Still, we will not throw up our hands and will do our best to perform at our best. We recently faced the Netherlands at the Euros, and at times, we showed that we could compete with the best. Now we also have to prove it on the pitch,” added the President of the Polish Football Association.
