Robert Lewandowski: The match against Wales will be a challenge for us

"The Nations League matches will give us a chance to prepare for the next national team training camp. It is a good moment for the whole team to think about what is off and what we can improve in our game," said Polish national team captain Robert Lewandowski at the opening press conference of the June national team training camp.

On his future at the club:

As of today, one thing is certain – my journey with Bayern Munich is over. I cannot imagine any further fruitful cooperation. I am aware that a transfer would be the best solution for both parties. I believe that Bayern won't stop me just because they can. My only focus as of right now is the national team training camp. There will be time to talk more about this later.

On matches in the UEFA Nations League:

We are aware that the Wales national team has a very important match in a few days. For us, this first match will be very important because we want to put our best foot forward and see how many points we win. We will do our best to stay in the top division and that is our goal in these next four matches. We are anxious to win against Wales and then we can focus on the next matches. It will be a challenge for all of us because it is not an easy time for us. The season is over and more challenges lie ahead. We must not complain, we just have to accept everything and adapt to the new conditions. We want to take the points against Wales and then compete with the Belgians and the Dutch. These are top brands in Europe and we realise that it will not be easy.

On the Wales national team:

We haven't made a thorough analysis of the opponent yet but we know very well how the Wales national team has performed over the last few years. They always perform well in the qualifiers, showing a high level of play. The opponents have great players and this is not a team that is easy to play against. Despite changes in the line-up, their level of play remains the same. I have watched their qualifying matches many times and I know that competing against them will be a challenge for us.

On the June training camp of the Polish national team:

I think these four matches will give us an answer as to how we feel in positional attacks and what needs to be improved. The Nations League meetings will give us a chance to prepare for the next training camp, which is scheduled for September. The next one is not until November before the World Cup. It is a good moment for the whole team to give a little bit more thought to what is off and what we can improve in our game. We had little time at the previous training camp, now we have much more time. For us, it will be a test and I think we will get a lot of answers after the last match.
