Key meetings ahead of the 2024 UEFA Super Cup
Between 25-27 June 2024, further official meetings were held in Warsaw regarding the organisation of the 2024 UEFA Super Cup match, which will take place on 14 August. Champions League winner Real Madrid and Europa League triumphant Atalanta BC will face each other at the Stadion Narodowy.
On Tuesday, 25 June 2024, the official meeting of the finalists before this highly prestigious match was held, attended by representatives of both clubs (Real Madrid and Atalanta BC), UEFA, the Department of Event Organisation, Security and Infrastructure of the Polish Football Association, PL.2012 + (operator of the Stadion Narodowy), as well as invited guests representing the Metropolitan Police Authority, the Warsaw VII District Police Headquarters, the Warsaw City Hall and representatives of airports - Warsaw Chopin Airport and Warsaw-Modlin Airport.
The meeting of the representatives of the finalists consisted of two parts - during the first part, issues related to the sporting aspects of the event were discussed (team service, preparation of the pitch and the players' zone, protocol issues). During the second part, issues related to security (e.g. organisation of the mass event, access routes for fans of both teams, general logistics of the event), ticketing and the mobility concept (e.g. organisation of fan meeting areas for both teams, fan festivals, cooperation with the City of Warsaw, the Police, airports and other entities involved in the event) were discussed.
Representatives of the Polish Football Association, UEFA and both clubs also visited Warsaw Chopin Airport, hotels and training grounds, as well as several other key locations in the city.
On the following day, a meeting was held with the match's partners and sponsors, during which issues relating to the organisation of fan activities, the sale of merchandise, marketing issues and guest services in the VIP/Hospitality areas were discussed.
On Thursday, the parties discussed matters related to the organisation of the match's broadcast, cooperation with the official television broadcaster and logistical and technical issues.
The UEFA Super Cup 2024 match between Real Madrid and Atalanta BC will take place on 14 August at 9 p.m. at the PGE Narodowy in Warsaw. The meeting will also be the official opening of the new season of the club competition under the auspices of UEFA.
The organisation of the official meetings and the match itself is the responsibility of the PZPN's Department of Event Organisation, Security and Infrastructure in cooperation with UEFA.
