The 10th edition of the Polish Football Association's Central Anchor Course has ended
The 10th edition of the Polish Football Association's Central Anchor Course took place at the PGE Narodowy on 16-18 January 2024, with 22 participants from all over Poland. Created by the Polish Football Association, the "Pakiet Spikera" (Anchor's package) is based on years of experience and is the most modern tool of its kind in Europe. This year's course programme was prepared on its basis, consisting of six training modules, complemented with speeches by special guests.
During the three-day course, participants took part in a variety of lectures, practical activities and workshops, and had the opportunity to meet exceptional speakers from the world of sport. This training formula enabled participants to learn in more detail about the specifics of an anchor's work and understand their role during a match. In addition, it opened up space for interaction with the speakers, which was conducive to asking questions and solving problematic issues.
The course covered the key aspects of an anchor's work, including legal issues, correct handling of the event, rules for formulating correct messages, using the voice and the principles of proper Polish. A unique addition to the programme was the opportunity to test one's skills during a workshop on working with a microphone organised on the PGE Narodowy's pitch.
The course attracted participants of varying levels of experience. Both those who already had experience in the role of an anchor or radio journalist and those who were just beginning their adventure with public speaking. After successfully passing all the tests, each participant received a PZPN Sports Competition Anchor Certificate, entitling them to host competitions in all football competitions in Poland. In addition, participants received a rich set of materials and practical multimedia tools.
The course, aimed at spreading best practice in the organisation of sporting events, with a particular focus on safety, communication and match setting, was organised by the Department of Event Organisation, Safety, and Infrastructure of the PZPN.
