The first edition of the Academy Director's Course has concluded
The first edition of the Academy Director's Course has concluded in Biała Podlaska on Tuesday. This is another of the specialist courses organised by the PZPN Coaching School. A total of twenty-six people attended the course.
The participants have met nine times since May, having had the opportunity to listen to lectures and hold discussions with representatives from Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Southampton FC, MSK Zilina, FC Brugge, LASK Linz or Sporting Braga. They also got a close look at the work of the top Dutch academies: PSV Eindhoven and Feyenoord Rotterdam.
The Academy Director's Course is another of the specialised courses organised by the PZPN Coaching School. It was coordinated by Wojciech Tomaszewski, director of the Warta Poznań academy. The first edition, inaugurated in May, was attended by 26 people who, like the course coordinator, to a large extent already hold managerial positions in the academies of clubs whose senior teams play at the two highest league levels in Poland. They were given priority in the recruitment process due to the fact that, in future, completing the course and gaining a diploma will be a prerequisite for managing an academy at the highest levels of the game.
"In the course programme, we assumed that each session would consist of one 'Polish' day and one spent with a foreign guest. Professionals from our country dealt with topics surrounding sport: management, finance, law or psychology. Representatives of foreign academies spoke strictly about sport," said Tomaszewski.
On Tuesday, the course participants met for the closing session of the entire first edition. Each of them drew one topic and had to prepare a maximum 20-minute presentation. This presentation determined whether a participant would complete the course and receive a diploma.
