The first PZPN Sports Director course has come to an end

The first edition of the PZPN Sports Director course has come to an end at the PZPN Coaching School. The original edition was attended by 24 trainees. It is a training course dedicated to sports directors of PKO BP Ekstraklasa and Fortuna 1. Liga clubs.  Ultimately, in a few years' time, completion of this course is to be a requirement for fulfilling this function at clubs in the two highest competition classes in Poland.

The first course was mainly run by foreign speakers. Among others, directors and heads of scouting from clubs SK Slavia Prague, FK Bodo/Glimt, BK Hacken, Newcastle United, Hajduk Split, Galatasaray SK appeared at the classes. The beginning and end of the course took place at the PZPN Coaching School in Biała Podlaska, while individual sessions were held throughout Poland. In addition, one of the sessions included a trip abroad to Club Brugge in Belgium.

The course and its programme is the result of several months' work of a working group formed by representatives of PZPN and PKO BP Ekstraklasa and Fortuna 1. Liga clubs. The function of coordinator of the first Sports Director course was performed by Tomasz Pasieczny, who was also a participant. Other participants in the training included Marcin Dorna, Jacek Zieliński, Tomasz Rząsa and Stefan Majewski.

We are planning to expand the courses, not just focusing on courses for club sports directors alone. We are already preparing a further training path for executives in the form of webinars, workshops, and conferences. It is extremely important that directors are constantly looking for inspiration and gaining new skills necessary for this function, said Paweł Grycmann, director of the PZPN Coaching School.

The second edition of the course starts already on 7 September. It will be coordinated by Łukasz Piworowicz. Participants include, among others, former Polish national team players: Rafał Kosznik, Sebastian Mila and Łukasz Trałka, as well as players well-known from the domestic league: Rafał Grodzicki, Piotr Kosiorowski or Piotr Stokowiec, who is also a coach.
