Robert Lewandowski awarded the Commander's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta!
Poland national team captain and Bayern Munich striker, Robert Lewandowski, was awarded the Commander's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta "for outstanding sports achievements, for promoting Poland on the international stage". He received the award at the Presidential Palace in Warsaw from the President Andrzej Duda.
"Our highly esteemed hero, our national hero" - with these words President Andrzej Duda addressed Robert Lewandowski in his speech after the presentation of the Order. "It is a great moment for me to award you, a great football player, this high state distinction. You once said that you don't count trophies, but are already thinking about the next ones. You are persistent, you are an extremely hard working man. That work added to extraordinary talent bears fruit. There are not many players like Lewandowski, like Ronaldo. You are the best player in the world and that is great," the president said.
Andrzej Duda thanked Lewandowski for emphasising his Polishness and the fact that he is Polish. "You are working for the good name of the Republic of Poland. You are the captain of the national team, you have patriotic views that you demonstrate. Thank you very much for all of this. Please give my thanks to your wife. You have a beautiful family and you also remember about others with your charitable work. This deserves high respect," the president added.
"I'm deeply honoured to receive such a distinction. I'm very proud. Football is a team sport and everything I've achieved, everything I've work for so hard, should also be credited to my coaches, staff and teammates. Also to my family," Robert Lewandowski said. "My ambition is high and I don't want to rest on my laurels. I want to thank everyone who supports me, who helps me succeed. I hope that my path will continue forward," the captain of the Poland national team concluded.
