Serbian stars in Ekstraklasa

They always felt good in the Polish league. Some of them played a greater role and became stars, others played for one season and movedto another club. We Poles also like to see them in action, and in turn, they feel at home in our country and often decide to stay for longer. Check out the most famous Serbian players who have played in the Ekstraklasa in recent years!

Miroslav Čovilo in Cracovia, Dorde Čotra in Zagłębie Lubin, VeljkoNikotović in Górnik Łęczna or Milos Krasić from Lechia Gdańsk - these players are very well known to fans of the Ekstraklasa. In the past, many good Serbian players appeared on the pitches of our league. Who are we talking about?

Danijel Ljuboja

A former player of Legia Warszawa and Korona Kielce, Aleksandar Vuković says that we have never had a footballer of this class in the league. One thing is certain - Ljuboja brought a lot of colour to the Ekstraklasa, but above all incredible skills. The Serb distinguished himself with impeccable technique and although sometimes his involvement was criticized, in most of hismatches he was a distinctivefigure. He won the Polish championship with Legia in  2013, and a year earlier, the national cup. In 2014 it was announced that Ljuboja had become a scout for the Warsaw team in France.

Miroslav Radović

Another player linked with Warsaw for many years. On the day he left the club the official website wrote: "After 3764 days a certain era for Legia Warszawa came to an end”. "Rado" is a living legend of the team from the capital, where he played for 9 seasons. During that time he became the biggest star of the team and a favourite of the crowd. The midfielder, who appeared in the Ekstraklasa 228 times and scored 54 goals, always said that someday he wouldreturn to Warsaw. “My home is here” - he repeated. At the beginning of January Radović was actually close to returning to Legia, but eventually he became a player for NK Olimpija Lublana.

Ivan Djurdjević

He played in Poznań for six years, and came to the club at the age of 30. However, he was the type of a player loved by fans for his passion, character and will to fight. Apart from the fact that Ivan always gave his all, we should also appreciate his football skills. Not without reason is he considered by many people as the best foreigner in the history of Lech. When he finished his career, he knew that he wanted to start working as a coach. It was not surprising that he took his first coaching steps in the Academy of Lech Poznań.

Aleksandar Vuković

He finished playing football in 2013, having turned out in Poland for Legia, and then Korona Kielce. In Warsaw he won two national championships and three cups: league, national and Super Cup. He was always respected by fans and teammates. He was a key figure both in Warsaw and later in Kielce. Now he uses his skills as a coach. He is the assistant of Stanislav Cherchesov in Legia’s first team.

Dimitrije Injac

He came to Poland in 2007 and played in the Ekstraklasa until 2015. We remember him most as a player for Lech Poznań. In total, he played in 203 matches for the "Kolejorz" and is the record holder when it comes to the number of matches played by a foreigner for Lech. Injac also had spells at Polonia Warszawa and Widzew Łódź, but he was at his best at Bułgarska Street. After the end of his career Dimitrije became a football agent and works closely with Lech.
